Minutes of Moroni Elementary Community Council

October 10, 2024

Attendance: Rhett Larsen, Jordee Gordon, Chelsea Bailey, and Brennen Russell attended in person, Kelly Patino and Stacey Peterson attended through Video Call. 

Business:

*Election of Chairman- Stacey nominated Rhett and Kelly seconded all were in favor of Rhett becoming Chair. Kelly volunteered to serve as secretary, Stacey made a motion and Chelsea seconded, all were in favor. 

*Adoption of rules of order and procedures. Rhett made a motion to accept the rules of order as presented and Chelsea seconded the motion, all were in favor..

*Reviewed, updated, and adopted school web info. 
*Calendar for future meetings will be February 3 and March 3. 
*Assigned a  Review of required Training (video)- the link will be emailed to the council by Mrs.                                   

Review Plans

The council reviewed the current School Land trust plan goals, measurements, action plan, and budget. 

The current TSSA plan was discussed and it was recommended that with the overage we commit $20,000 to fund the school nurse, $3,000-$5,000 be used to purchase translation technology, and to look at stipends for pick-up and drop-off for teachers or TAs as an extra duty. Additional funds will be used to support safety grant implementation. 

Family Engagement and School Events

Fall Carnival- there will be no school sponsored fall carnival this year because of the work put on teachers and admin with not existing PTA. 

Sightbuddies/Charity Vision- will be held November 14th. 

Cultural night- tonight, with food trucks and a lot of dancing. 

Community Concerns

Parent Drop off is always a concern. We need to keep parents moving along and find for more parking. 

Dog issue- there are many dogs that come around the school before and after and sometimes get on the playground during recess. 

PTA/PTO- we need willing volunteers to help us change from a PTA organization to a PTO organization.
