Minutes of Moroni Elementary Community Council
February 3, 2025
Attendance: Kelly Patino, Jordee Gordon, Stacey Peterson, and Chelsea Bailey
The council reviewed the minutes from the last meeting. Chelsea motioned to approve and Kelly seconded.
The council reviewed the following data and discussed academic needs.
Expenditures and Budget
Trustland- $78,450.00
Hire/fund three full-time teaching assistants (two full-time and two half-time positions). ($71,000)
The teaching assistants will be specifically trained to provide Tier II/III interventions. These assistants will focus on targeted interventions in Reading and Math for grades K-6, providing the necessary support to students requiring additional help to reach grade-level proficiency.
Generation Genius: Purchase a site license to provide interactive and engaging Math and Science lessons aligned with state standards. ($1650)
Mystery Science: Acquire a site license for hands-on, inquiry-based Science lessons to spark curiosity and critical thinking among students. ($1400)
Fracts and Facts: Secure a site license to offer additional Math practice and reinforcement, ensuring students solidify foundational Math skills. ($1400)
Teacher iPad replacement for devices that are out of date. ($1500)
Teacher Apple TVs to replace outdated devices. ($1500)
TSSA- TOTAL $48,300
IXL 6th grade (both Spanish and ELA) $17 per student- $1000, 5th grade Science $700- $1700 Total
Teacher Morale- $3650
Student Birthday- $850
Net Positive- Assembly and Lesson Plans- $600
Reading A to Z- $800- will be less
AmeriCorps TA- $10,000
Language TA- $4000
AmeriCorps TA- $6,500
After School program (teacher/staff pay)- $14,000
After School Snacks- $1500
Culture Night/Dance Festival/Red Ribbon Week/Literacy Week/other family events- $3000
Safety Grant extra- Locks/hardware, Trauma Kits, First Aid Kits, Reunification supplies, window coverings- $1700
The council made recommendations about how to use the TSSA & Trustlands funds including to continue utilizing the following:
Fund 3 full time teaching assistants, Generation Genius, Mystery Science, Fracts and Facts, replacing outdated devices, IXL program, teacher morale activities, student birthday celebrations, Net Positive assemblies, Reading A-Z, two AmeriCorps teaching assistants, Language TA, after school program, additional funding for the safety grant, and various family events
The council reviewed digital citizenship, school safety plan, and safe routes. The SRP will be added to the school website.
The council discussed the Dual Immersion program.
Stacey will bring data next time to review the School Improvement Plan.
Upcoming Family Engagement and School Events are:
-Parent Conferences just passed, January 29th and 30th.
-Curiosity Fair will be held February 24th for grades 1-6.
-Books and Bingo is February 25th at 6:00 pm.
Community Concerns
The council discussed recent news regarding immigration and how it has affected schools.
The next meeting is set for March 3rd.
Chelsea motioned to adjourn the meeting and Jordee seconded the motion.
