March 2026 School Counselor Newsletter
This month our students will have the following lessons:
Kindergarten:
We will read Llama Stops Teasing, which teaches how hurtful teasing can be and how much better it is to be kind to one another; and Monkey Needs to Listen, which teaches the importance of listening to instructions in order to be successful.
1st–5th Grades:
This month we will learn about Habit 5: “Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood.” We will read the following stories to help students learn this habit: Jumper and the Lost Butterfly Net and Sammy and the Pecan Pie.
6th Grade:
We will focus on the following leadership skills: Kindness & Respect and Volunteering. Both of these skills are necessary to be a strong leader and to build positive connections with others.
Parent Tip
Kids who recognize their strengths and emotions feel more secure and motivated.
Ways you can help:
-Reflect on the day with your child by asking, “What made you feel proud today?”
-Encourage them to try something new and praise effort, not just success.
-Celebrate their unique talents.
